Dr. Mehreen Rahman

About

Biography

Dr. Mehreen Rahman is a Lecturer at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khyber Medical University (KMU-IPS), Peshawar, Pakistan, where she has served since June 2025. A registered pharmacist by profession, she holds a Pharm-D (Doctor of Pharmacy) from the University of Malakand and a PhD in Pharmacy, specializing in Nanomedicine, from the University of Peshawar, completed under an HEC Indigenous Scholarship.

Her research centers on nanomedicine and targeted drug delivery, with particular focus on gold-based nanoparticle systems for synergistic thermo-chemotherapy of cancer. Her doctoral research developed a multifunctional colloidal gold-based cisplatin platform combining thermal and chemotherapeutic approaches to cancer treatment. She gained extensive hands-on research experience in nanoparticle synthesis, characterization, drug release kinetics, in vivo imaging, and cell culture-based cytotoxicity and genotoxicity assays during appointments at the National Institute of Laser and Optronics (NILOP) and the Nuclear Medicine, Oncology and Radiotherapy Institute (NORI), both under the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, including work on the PAK-Norway collaborative project on NIR laser-triggered thermo-chemotherapy.

Prior to her current role, Dr. Rahman held teaching positions as Assistant Professor at CECOS University, IPFP Fellow and Visiting Lecturer at institutions including KMU-IPS and the University of Peshawar, and Lecturer at Gandhara University. She has authored multiple publications in nanomedicine and pharmaceutical sciences and has presented her research at international symposia, including securing 2nd place in poster presentation at the 3rd International Nanomedicine Symposium (INS-2017) in Islamabad.

Dr. Rahman combines a strong foundation in pharmaceutical sciences with advanced expertise in nanomedicine research, bridging clinical pharmacy practice and translational drug delivery innovation.
