Dr. Muhammad Nabi
Biography
Dr. Muhammad Nabi is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khyber Medical University (KMU-IPS). He holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Gomal University, MPhil degrees in Biochemistry and Pharmacology, and a PhD in Pharmacology from Khyber Medical University. Additionally, he earned a CHR qualification from Aga Khan University, Karachi.
Dr. Nabi has extensive academic, clinical, and research experience. He served as Incharge of Clinical/Hospital Pharmacy at Hayatabad Medical Complex from 2016 to 2022. Since November 2022, he has been a Lecturer and then Associate Professor at KMU-IPS. He has also supervised Clinical/Hospital Pharmacists at Hayatabad Medical Complex and worked as a Research Scholar at KMU.
His professional background includes pharmaceutical research and development, quality control, and clinical pharmacy. His academic and research interests cover Pharmacology, Drug development, Toxicology, Pharmacological activity screening, and pharmaceutical sciences. Dr. Nabi has authored 52 research publications, with more than 40 in W-category journals, accumulating an impact factor exceeding 200. He has contributed 10 international book chapters, authored a book, and supervised or co-supervised over 50 MPhil and PhD scholars.
His research spans pharmacology and therapeutics, natural products/pharmacognosy, synthetic compounds, ethnopharmacology, phytochemistry, and drugs affecting the gastrointestinal tract and cardiovascular system.
Currently, Dr. Nabi serves as Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy, 1st Secretary of the Graduate Students Committee (GSC) at KMU-IPS, and Focal Person for Scholarships, Undergraduate Research, the Medicinal Garden, and the Laptop Scheme at IPS-KMU. He is actively engaged in academic administration, student support, research, and postgraduate education.
His contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Research Excellence Award (2023), Certificate of Excellence at the Hackathon on Innovating Towards a Sustainable Future (2024), University Best Teacher Award (2024), and 1st Position in Poster Presentation at the International Research Conference (2025).
