Dr. Muhammad Samie
Biography
Dr. Muhammad Samie is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS), Khyber Medical University, Peshawar, with specialized expertise in Pharmaceutics, drug delivery, biomaterials, and tissue engineering. He holds a PhD in Pharmaceutics from COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus, an MPhil in Pharmaceutics from the University of Sargodha, and a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Gomal University.
His research primarily focuses on the design, fabrication, and characterization of advanced drug delivery systems and biomaterial-based therapeutic platforms. His work includes the development of sustained-release formulations, drug-loaded patches, nanofibrous matrices, and composite scaffolds for applications in wound healing, skin regeneration, bone and cartilage regeneration, and osteochondral tissue engineering. He has extensive research experience in electrospinning, freeze-drying, scaffold fabrication, antimicrobial evaluation, cell culture, histological analysis, and advanced material characterization techniques.
Dr. Samie has contributed to 12 research publications, including several as first/principal author, in areas related to drug delivery, tissue engineering, nanofibrous biomaterials, and regenerative medicine. He is also an inventor on US and Pakistani patents concerning the extraction and regeneration of silk fibroin from Bombyx mori cocoons. His research experience includes international exposure through a PhD research fellowship at Lancaster University, United Kingdom, supported by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
At IPS, Dr. Samie is actively involved in teaching, research, and postgraduate supervision, including research projects focused on drug-loaded patches for oral ulcers, burn wound healing, and skin regeneration. His broader research goal is to develop innovative pharmaceutical and biomaterial-based solutions that can bridge fundamental research with practical biomedical applications and potential commercialization.
