Dr. Nasir Ahmad
Biography
Dr. Nasir Ahmad is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khyber Medical University, Peshawar, specializing in Pharmacogenomics and Molecular Pharmacology. He holds a PhD in Pharmacogenomics and Molecular Pharmacology from the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, KMU, and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Gomal University.
His research focuses on understanding the molecular and genetic factors that influence drug response, efficacy, and resistance. His major research areas include pharmacogenomics of drug response, molecular mechanisms of drug resistance, cancer biomarkers, and pharmacological applications of genetic variation. His work has particularly investigated SLCO1B1 genetic variations and statin response, circulating cell-free DNA as a biomarker in breast cancer, and the role of drug transporters in chronic myeloid leukemia.
Dr. Ahmad also has research experience in molecular biology, bioinformatics, gene expression analysis, genotyping, PCR, sequencing, HPLC, and Western blotting, along with expertise in statistical analysis using Stata, SPSS, and GraphPad Prism. He has contributed to research in infectious diseases, including COVID-19 diagnostics and genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 variants.
He has authored 13 peer-reviewed journal articles, including research in pharmacogenomics, molecular pharmacology, cancer biology, infectious diseases, and neurological disorders. In addition to teaching Pharmacology and research techniques, he has supervised postgraduate students and held several academic and administrative roles, including Postgraduate Program Coordinator, Secretary of the Graduate Study Committee, and Director of Research.
