Ms. Hira Siyar

Biography

Miss. Hira Siyar is a Teaching Assistant at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, Pakistan. She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) from the Women Institute of Learning (WILS), Abbottabad, and an MPhil in Pharmacology from Khyber Medical University, where her coursework spanned General, ANS, and CNS Pharmacology.

Her academic and clinical experience combines hospital pharmacy practice with progressively expanding teaching responsibilities. She has completed hospital pharmacist internships and clerkships at Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar, Combined Military Hospital Abbottabad, and District Headquarters Hospital Abbottabad, gaining exposure to emergency and relief pharmacy, OT pharmacy, A&E pharmacy, and labour room pharmacy services. She also recently served as a Resident Pharmacist at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, Peshawar (Nov–Dec 2025).

On the academic side, she has taught Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biochemistry at Ghazali Institute of Medical Sciences, and served as visiting faculty delivering General Pharmacology I and Systemic Pharmacology II to BSN students at GCON, Lady Reading Hospital, alongside visiting lecturer roles in Physiology and Anatomy labs at the University of Peshawar.

Her MPhil research examined the effects of N-acetylcysteine and CoQ10 supplementation on the antidiabetic effect of sitagliptin in rats, and she has co-authored studies on drug-induced hepatotoxicity, haemoglobinopathies, and anticoagulant pharmacology. She is proficient in research and data analysis tools including SPSS and GraphPad Prism, and has completed certifications in animal handling and research application, biosafety and biosecurity, and systematic review and meta-analysis methodology.

Endocrinology and Metabolic Disorders.
